Learn from Experts in the Field

Learn from experienced Instructors in the Unitek College VN Program . This program prepares students with 12 months of instruction, at least 900 hours of hands-on training, and access to healthcare facilities.

I recently graduated from Unitek's LVN program. This one year program can be quite challenging at times but after I graduated I felt very well prepared for the NCLEX and passed it on the first try!

About Our VN Program

If youโ€™re a compassionate person interested in helping others and youโ€™re looking to start a rewarding professional career without spending years in school, becoming a Licensed Vocational Nurse could be a great opportunity. Licensed Vocational Nurses, or LVNs, assist in the medical care of patients under the direction of doctors and registered nurses. They care for people who are sick, injured, convalescent or disabled. LVNs often have more contact with patients than any other member of the healthcare team.

Enrollment Process

The enrollment process at Unitek College can be completed entirely online. To enroll in the Unitek College Vocational Nursing Program, a prospective student must complete the following steps:

  • Career planning session and admissions interview
  • Submit proof of high school education or equivalent
  • Entrance assessment test
  • Admissions application
  • Enrollment agreement
  • Financing arrangements and, if applicable, all documents needed to obtain an official award letter for Federal Student Aid

Unitek College's Vocational Nursing Program

The Vocational Nursing program at Unitek College provides the hands-on training, practical experience and industry support needed to pursue a rewarding career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. The program is specifically designed to get you career ready. Students will benefit from more than 900 hours of combined hands-on training in simulations, labs and healthcare facilities, fully preparing you to enter the healthcare industry with confidence.

Unitek College assists students with passing the National Council Licensure Examination-Practical Nurse (NCLEX-PN) so that they can become Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN) in California.

Vocational Nurse Duties and Responsibilities

LVNs assess and monitor their patients, report adverse reactions to medication or treatment, and gather information from patients including their health history and how they are currently feeling.

In some states, including California, LVNs are permitted to administer prescribed medicines, start intravenous fluids, and provide care to ventilator-dependent patients. They may use this information to complete a plan of care for a specific patient in long-term care; to complete insurance forms, pre-authorizations, and referrals; and to work with the interdisciplinary team to help determine the best course of care for a patient. LVNs often teach family members how to care for a relative or teach patients about good health habits. LVNs supervise nursing assistants and aides.
